Qualifications

• Experience in oral surgery or dental assisting preferred.

• Experience with IV sedation, implants, or hospital surgery is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with oral surgery procedures including extractions, wisdom teeth, implants and grafting.
• Prepare rooms, equipment, instruments, medications, and supplies.
• Assist with patient intake, imaging, documentation, recovery and post-op instructions.
• Maintain sterilization, infection control and clinical cleanliness standards.
• Ensure the surgical schedule is prepared and supplies are available.
• Participate in inventory management and case prep.
• Communicate clearly with doctors, patients and staff.
• Identify issues early and help find solutions to protect patient care.
• Cross-train to handle increasingly complex procedures over time.

Oral Surgery Assistant - Full Time

Arlington, Virginia

We are a growing oral and maxillofacial surgery practice in Northern Arlington, seeking a smart, dependable, and highly motivated Oral Surgery Assistant to join our clinical team.

Our practices includes traditional oral surgery as well as advanced TMJ, jaw, and hospital-based surgery. We are looking for someone who wants to become a well-rounded surgical assistant, takes ownership of their work, communicates well, and can think through problems rather than simply wait for instructions.

What You’ll Do

• Assist with oral surgery procedures including extractions, wisdom teeth, implants, bone grafting, IV sedation, TMJ procedures, and other office-based surgeries
• Prepare rooms, equipment, instruments, medications, and surgical supplies
• Assist with patient intake, imaging, documentation, recovery, and postoperative instructions
• Maintain excellent sterilization, infection‑control, and clinical cleanliness standards
• Help ensure the surgical schedule is prepared in advance and necessary equipment and supplies are available
• Participate in inventory management and surgical case preparation
• Communicate clearly with doctors, patients, front‑office staff, and other clinical team members
• Identify potential problems, ask questions when something is unclear, and help find solutions before issues affect patient care
• Assist with pediatric dentistry when needed and work collaboratively with our pediatric dental team
• Potentially assist with hospital‑based oral and maxillofacial surgery cases, depending on experience, training, and practice needs
• Cross‑train across the practice so you can become proficient in increasingly complex procedures and processes over time

Experience

Previous oral surgery, dental surgery, anesthesia, or surgical assisting experience is preferred, although we are willing to train an exceptional candidate with a strong clinical foundation and the right attitude. Experience with IV sedation, implants, hospital surgery, or advanced oral surgery is a plus.
