Job summary

Legacy Oral & Facial Surgery in Asheville, NC is seeking an experienced Oral Surgery Assistant to join our patient-centered, fast-paced team. You will support doctors during procedures, prepare treatment rooms, and manage instruments to ensure smooth operations.

You will take radiographs, assist with anesthesia, monitor vitals, and provide clear post-operative instructions while maintaining OSHA standards and patient confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2+ years of chair side experience, preferably in oral surgery, dental, and/or periodontics.
  • CPR certification preferred and beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares treatment room for patient by adhering to prescribed procedures and protocols.
  • Takes and records patient vital signs such as blood pressure and respiration rate.
  • Assists surgeon with general anesthesia and intravenous sedation procedures.
  • Transfers surgical instruments to the oral surgeon and prepares surgical dressings during treatment.
  • Monitors intravenous fluids and vital signs during and after surgery.
  • Takes dental radiographs and prepares prescriptions; maintains inventory of supplies.
  • Manages consent forms regarding surgery and anesthesia and records patient treatments.
  • Provides post-operative care instructions to patients.
  • Maintains equipment and sterilizes instruments; adheres to office protocols.
  • Upholds patient confidentiality and professional conduct.
  • Assists with other duties as assigned by the team.

Our growing oral surgery practice is seeking a skilled and compassionate Oral Surgery Assistant to join our team. We are a patient-centered office known for providing exceptional surgical care in a supportive, fast-paced, and team-oriented environment. Essential Duties:

  • Prepares treatment room for patient by adhering to prescribed procedures and protocols
  • Takes and records patient's vital signs such as blood pressure and respiration rate
  • Assists surgeon with general anesthesia and intravenous sedation procedures
  • During treatment, the assistant transfers surgical instruments to oral surgeon and prepares surgical
  • dressings
  • Monitors intravenous fluids and vital signs during and after the surgery procedure
  • Takes dental radiographs, prepares prescriptions, maintains inventory of supplies in operatory
  • Enters patients' treatment in the computer and prepares all consent forms regarding surgery and the use of
  • anesthesia
  • Gives patients post operative care instructions
  • Maintains equipment and instruments by proper care, cleaning, and sterilization
  • Adheres to office education and protocol
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and conducts self in a professional manner
  • Any other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with OSHA infection control policies
  • Helps oral surgeon manage medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency kit, oxygen and other emergency supplies

Education and Experience Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of chair side experience , preferably in oral surgery, dental, and/or periodontics.
  • Relevant experience in the dental , medical, or nursing field is preferred

Special Requirements, Certifications, and Licenses:

  • DAI Certification.
  • X-Ray Certification.
  • CPR Certification.

Monday - Thursday 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM, Friday 7:30 AM - 3:00 PM
