Job summary

Belk, Inc. & Belk eCommerce LLC. seeks a senior software engineer to design, develop and support Oracle Retail Xstore POS solutions within a retail context.

You will collaborate with Product Management to translate business needs into scalable software, implement Java 11/J2EE and SQL-backed solutions, and provide technical leadership.

The role emphasizes hands-on development, integration with payment systems, and ongoing production support in a dynamic retail environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Masters Degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 2-5 years hands-on Oracle Retail Xstore POS development, Oracle databases, Oracle EFTLink, and knowledge of RTLog generator and Xenvironment.
• 2-5 years experience with deal and promotion engines.
• 2-5 years deep expertise in Java 11/J2EE, SQL databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL).
• 3-5 years Spring and related frameworks, and/or peripheral integrations like receipt printers, scanners, and PIN pads in Xstore POS.
• 2-5 years proven experience with payment integrations (e.g., Verifone, ACI, Adyen, Worldpay, etc.).
• 2-3 years experience with Oracle Xmobile and Thin Client architectures, along with Android development experience in a retail domain.
• Experience realizing applications from conception and design, to implementation and support.
• Experience with relational and dimensional data modeling.
• Experience with application lifecycle methodologies (e.g. agile, iterative).
• Experience in analysis, design and programming.
• Experience with appropriate database technology.

Responsibilities

• Agile Planning: Collaborates with Product Management to design viable solutions that reduce technical debt and plan releases.
• Product Development: Contributes to designs and builds software across platforms to meet stakeholder needs.
• Application Support: Provides ongoing support, monitoring, and maintenance of deployed products.
• Advice and Guidance: Mentors less experienced engineers providing technical guidance and oversight.
• Emerging Technology Monitoring: Stays up to date on new software technologies and best practices.
