Role Summary

The Lead Cost Systems Analyst owns the end-to-end design and roadmap for cost and inventory accounting capabilities, ensuring consistency across plants and business units. The role partners with Plant Finance, Corporate Control, Operations, and IT to standardize processes, improve cost transparency, and support strategic decisions on pricing, sourcing, and network design.

Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing Cost Accounting Leadership
  • Act as functional lead for manufacturing cost and inventory accounting processes in Oracle EBS and/or Oracle Cloud, setting standards and guiding solution decisions
  • Define and govern standard costing frameworks, including global design for cost elements, overhead structures, resource/activity rates, and cost roll practices across plants
  • Lead design of WIP accounting, job costing, and variance models to support meaningful analysis by product, line, plant, and business unit
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in cost and inventory processes, including simplification, standardization, and enhanced visibility to cost drivers and variances
  • Provide functional leadership for projects, enhancements, and rollouts impacting manufacturing cost and inventory, including planning, impact assessment, and testing strategy
  • Support month-end and year-end close for manufacturing cost and inventory at a governance level, ensuring consistency of reconciliations, cost rolls, and variance explanations across sites
Intercompany Manufacturing & Trading Flows
  • Own intercompany manufacturing and trading design: intercompany price/markup structures, cost flow and COGS recognition, intercompany inventory flows, and settlement/reconciliation processes
  • Partner with Finance leadership to align system design with transfer pricing policies and global inventory strategies
  • Establish controls and automation for intercompany balancing, elimination entries, and consolidated reporting across multiple legal entities
  • Support multi-currency intercompany transactions with proper foreign exchange tracking and compliance documentation
  • Design and maintain intercompany reconciliation frameworks to ensure timely resolution of discrepancies between trading partners
Cross-Functional Solution Design
  • Lead cross-functional workshops to capture business requirements, challenge legacy practices, and design future-state processes for costing and manufacturing
  • Translate strategic business objectives into detailed functional designs and Oracle configurations, following Oracle best practices for manufacturing and cost accounting
  • Oversee functional configuration for Oracle Cost Management, Inventory, WIP/Manufacturing, and SLA rules affecting cost, variances, and intercompany flows
  • Collaborate with technical teams on solution architecture, integrations, and data strategies related to production, inventory, and cost
  • Partner with Plant Finance, Corporate Controlling, and Operations teams to align cost accounting system design with make-vs-buy decisions, outsourcing strategies, and contract manufacturing scenarios
Knowledge Management & Team Development
  • Mentor and guide other analysts and key users on best practices for cost accounting in Oracle
  • Develop and maintain functional documentation, process maps, and training materials for cost and inventory processes
  • Serve as escalation point for complex cost accounting issues and system defects
  • Build functional expertise within the organization through knowledge transfer, training sessions, and hands-on coaching
  • Stay current on Oracle product roadmaps, manufacturing cost accounting best practices, and industry trends
Experience And Qualifications
Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, or related field; advanced degree or certification (CPA, CMA) preferred
  • 6-8 years of ERP-based financial systems experience, with at least 5+ years focused primarily on manufacturing cost accounting and inventory in a multi-plant environment
  • Deep knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting, including global standard costing models, overhead allocation, WIP/job costing, inventory valuation, and intercompany cost flows
