Job summary

Brooksource is seeking an Oracle Exadata Specialist to lead migration of a large Exadata estate into a secure Azure-based environment. You will optimize performance, ensure security, and support hybrid connectivity for healthcare workloads.

The role focuses on database modernization, large-scale data handling, and automation, with a contract term of 6 months and high potential for extension. On-site in Chicago, IL.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Oracle Exadata.
• Experience with Oracle Exadata in large-scale migrations and performance tuning.
• Experience with Oracle RAC and ASM, RMAN, Data Guard, and security features.
• Familiarity with Azure and hybrid cloud connectivity (ExpressRoute/VPN).

Responsibilities

• Assess a large-scale Exadata estate and develop migration strategies.
• Configure Exadata for hybrid cloud architecture and optimize performance.
• Enable secure connectivity between Oracle Exadata and Azure AKS.

6 Month Contract - High Chance of Extension

Our client is supporting a large-scale healthcare cloud modernization initiative and is seeking Oracle Exadata Specialists to join a specialized database infrastructure team. This program involves migrating 220 healthcare applications and approximately 330TB of data from Oracle Exadata environments into a secure, compliant Azure environment. The ideal candidate will have strong hands‑on experience with Oracle Exadata, large‑scale database migrations, performance optimization, and hybrid cloud connectivity.

Responsibilities:

• Assess a large-scale Oracle Exadata estate and develop database migration strategies
• Configure and optimize Oracle Exadata Database Machine environments for hybrid cloud architecture
• Implement secure, high-performance connectivity between Oracle Exadata and Azure AKS
• Support database migration activities including lift‑and‑shift, re‑platforming, data replication, and cutover planning
• Perform Oracle database performance tuning and optimization for production healthcare workloads
• Implement Oracle security capabilities aligned with regulated cloud requirements, including encryption, TDE, Data Redaction, and Database Vault
• Manage Oracle patching, upgrades, and version alignment
• Configure and support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies
• Develop database automation scripts and Infrastructure as Code for Oracle components
• Troubleshoot database performance, connectivity, migration, and infrastructure issues
• Document database architecture, data flows, and compliance controls for audit purposes

Required Skills:

• Strong hands‑on experience with Oracle Exadata
• Experience with Oracle 19c and/or 21c
• Experience with Oracle RAC and ASM
• Experience with RMAN and Data Guard
• Experience working with large‑scale databases and high‑volume data environments
• Experience with Azure and hybrid cloud architecture
• Experience connecting Oracle infrastructure to Azure using ExpressRoute, VPN, or equivalent technologies
• Strong database performance tuning and optimization experience
• Experience with Oracle database security, encryption, and access controls
• Experience with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills

Nice to Have

• FedRAMP or GovRAMP experience
• Healthcare or healthcare claims processing experience
• Exadata Smart Scan and storage index optimization
• Database automation / Infrastructure as Code
• Database migration assessment tools
• Compliance and audit documentation experience
