Matlen Silver is seeking a Senior Oracle Database/Exadata Engineer Consultant for a 12‑month contract in Jersey City, NJ, onsite three days a week, with approved extension options including Charlotte, NC or Plano, TX. The role emphasizes building automated infrastructure and lifecycle management for Oracle databases on Exadata.

Required: 8+ years Oracle DB/Exadata, 7+ years Terraform/Ansible, Ansible Tower expertise, and strong Shell scripting. Compensation is $80–$85 per hour on a W2 basis.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of Oracle database engineering, core administration, with Exadata architecture.
• 7+ years hands-on Terraform and Ansible; expert in Ansible Playbooks and Ansible Tower.
• Strong Shell scripting and automation experience.

Responsibilities

• Infrastructure as Code development to deploy Oracle Databases on Exadata via Ansible/Terraform.
• Lead end-to-end automation design for enterprise database pipelines and lifecycle management.
• Integrate CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment and operational excellence.
• Standardize patterns across on-premise and cloud environments.

Job Description:

We are seeking a Senior Database Engineerwith deep expertise in Oracle Database platforms, Exadata, and advanced automation. In this enterprise-level role, you will be responsible for defining, architecting, and deploying cutting-edge Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions. The ideal senior candidate will specialize in building end-to-end pipelines that automate the deployment and lifecycle management of modern database infrastructure, focusing on high availability, security, and enterprise efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Development: Design and develop automated infrastructure provisioning templates using Ansible Playbooks, Ansible Tower, and Shell scripting to robustly deploy Oracle Databases on the DBaaS Exadata platform.
• End-to-End Architecture: Lead the design and implementation of holistic, end-to-end automation solutions for Oracle enterprise products leveraging Terraform.
• CI/CD Integration: Build, maintain, and optimize robust database deployment and infrastructure delivery pathways within modern CI/CD pipelines.
• Enterprise Operations: Standardize on-premise and cloud-based engineering patterns, driving operational excellence and mitigating manual intervention across complex enterprise environments.

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Experience Level: Senior-level candidates only.
• Database Expertise: 8+ years of dedicated experience with Oracle database engineering, core administration, and a deep architectural focus on the Exadata platform.
• Automation Mastery: At least 7 years of hands-on experience with Terraform and Ansible is highly recommended to manage daily engineering responsibilities. Must be an expert in authoring Ansible Playbooks and managing environments via Ansible Tower.
• Scripting Skills: Strong, demonstrable proficiency with complex Shell scripting and automation processes.
