General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) seeks a highly motivated and experienced Senior Database Administrator to support a Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) mission in Alexandria, VA. This position will support the Defense Stockpile Management Systems (DSMS), including: Defense Integration and Management of Nuclear Data Services (DIAMONDS), Joint Application Design Environment (JADE), Nuclear Inventory Management and Cataloging System (NIMACS), Government Acceptance Testing (GAT), and DIAMONDS Accountability Training System (DATS).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Resolve complex issues involving database performance, capacity, resiliency, stability, replication, and other key aspects of distributed database technology.
- Perform testing, analysis, and modification of existing database SQL stored procedures.
- Evaluate, refine, and tune existing Oracle objects; install, upgrade, patch, secure, diagnose system problems, and troubleshoot Oracle Database versions 12.2 through 19.26.
- Design, implement, and configure complex database environments.
- Define, troubleshoot, document, and escalate issues as needed.
- Collaborate with application development teams to support data-oriented development efforts.
- Work with support centers to resolve issues promptly.
- Analyze and document user requirements; implement security patches and STIGs.
- Maintain documentation of database configurations and changes.
- Research and recommend solutions to meet operational needs.
- Gather business rules and requirements with senior managers.
- Evaluate and improve existing database structures for efficiency and data integrity.
- Create database schemas and objects such as tables, triggers, stored procedures, and scheduled jobs.
- Develop database models based on current and future customer requirements.
- Review and revise database change requests.
- Utilize tools like Visual Studio, Toad Data Modeler, SQLPLUS, TFS, Azure DevOps, Jira, and Solarwinds Helpdesk.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Extensive experience with Oracle Database Enterprise Editions.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience with Oracle Data Guard, Linux, and Windows administration.
- Knowledge of relational database concepts, modeling, design, and creation.
- Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, Shell Scripts, and Batch Scripts.
- Ability to troubleshoot critical issues and work independently.
- Understanding of OSI model and relational database constructs.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- At least 7 years in database administration roles.
- Experience installing and troubleshooting Oracle 19c; familiarity with MSSQL and PostgreSQL.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience with Automatic Storage Management and Data Guard.
- Proficiency in developing PL/SQL code.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- 5+ years of Oracle DBA experience.
- 7+ years of increasing responsibilities in Oracle application development and database administration.
- 5+ years supporting database environments on RHEL and Windows.
- B.S. degree or equivalent experience; work experience may substitute for education.
- Security clearance: DoD final Secret, with ability to obtain Top Secret.
- Certifications: Oracle 19c OCA/OCP, Security+ upon hire.
