Job summary

TotalMed RN is seeking an Operating Room travel nurse (OR RN) for a 13-week assignment in Des Moines, IA. The role requires 1–2 years of acute care experience as a circulating or scrub nurse, with potential RN first assistant duties. Shift is 8 hours, evenings, 40 hours per week, travel employment.

Responsibilities include assisting surgeons, providing pre- and post-operative care, instrument handling, and maintaining sterile technique. ACLS/BLS required; additional certifications may be needed.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years recent acute care experience as circulating nurse and/or scrub nurse.
• May include RN first assistant responsibilities.
• Travel assignment experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and medical staff in caring for surgical patients.
• Provide pre- and post-surgery care and patient education.
• Act as circulating, scrub, or RN first assistant as assigned.
• Prepare instruments and maintain sterile field as needed.
• Follow safety protocols and notify team of any adverse events.
