Job summary

HCA Healthcare is seeking an OR Tech 2 (Tier 2) at Research Medical Center in the Kansas City area. The role requires 1+ year of OR tech experience, and the candidate should be capable as first scrub in Robotic, Total Joints, Neuro/Spine or Vascular surgeries.

On-call duties require residence within 30 minutes of the facility, with 12-hour shifts and rotating weekends. As part of a skilled surgical team, you will prepare the suite, assist during operations, and ensure patient safety and sterile

Qualifications

• 1+ year OR Tech experience.
• Competent to perform as first scrub in three specialty areas: Robotic, Total Joints, Neuro/Spine and Vascular.
• CORT graduate.
• BLS certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Set up and maintain the surgical suite for procedures.
• Assist with patient transport, positioning, prepping and draping.
• Scrub in, hand instruments, and anticipate team needs.
• Monitor patients and equipment; uphold sterile technique.

• General OR (Tech 2) Mixed Schedule (Rotating Weekends) 3' 12-hour shifts
• General OR (Tech 2) Nights (Rotating Weekends) 3' 12-hour shifts

Side Note: OR Tech 2 are skilled, experienced Techs who can handle most surgeries confidently but is not yet in a leadership or advanced Specialty role.

Research Medical Center is a 585+ bed hospital. Our hospital offers an array of medical and health clinic services. This includes women's services offering obstetrics and fertility, an emergency room, and a trauma center. We offer a Stroke Center, a walk-in clinic, and orthopedics across three Kansas City locations. Our specialty care areas include a Chest Pain Center, Level I Trauma Center, Breast Care Center, Cardiovascular Rehabilitation Programs, and Primary Stroke Center. Your Responsibilities Will Include

• Setting up and maintaining the surgical suite with instruments, supplies, and advanced equipment to ensure safe, seamless procedures
• Assisting with patient transport, positioning, prepping, and draping while prioritizing comfort, privacy, and safety
• Scrubbing in and partnering with the surgical team by providing instruments, handling specimens, and anticipating the team's needs
• Monitoring patients and surgical equipment throughout procedures, responding promptly and effectively to any concerns
• Upholding sterile technique, completing room turnover efficiently, and supporting a high-performing, collaborative team environment

What Qualifications You Will Need

• Must have 1+ years of OR Tech experience
• Tech II- In addition to meeting the requirements of an OR Tech I position, must also be competent to perform as first scrub in three of the four following specialty areas: Robotic, Total Joints, Neuro/Spine and Vascular Surgery.
• Graduate of an accredited school of Certified Operating Room Technicians (CORT)
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) from National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) preferred.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association or client required upon hire.
