Job summary

BMC Berkeley Medical Center seeks a surgical scrub professional to support the OR team. The role requires active LPN licensure with scrub experience or completion of a surgical technology program with certification. BLS must be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities include aseptic technique, assisting with instrument handling, counts, gowning/gloving, patient transport, and inventory management. 40 hours weekly; on-site position.

Qualifications

• Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse and two years of scrub experience.
• OR Completion of a Surgical Technology Program with surgical technologist certification.
• Obtain Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes quality aseptic technique in OR roles.
• Assist circulating RN in maintaining a sterile field.
• Performs sponge, instrument, and needle counts with the circulating RN.
• Assists with gowning and gloving surgeons and positioning equipment.
• Passes sterile instruments to the surgical team during procedures.
• Assists with transportation and positioning of patients and equipment.
• Prepares supplies and equipment following preference cards.
• Assists with sterilization and maintenance of supplies and equipment.
• Monitors inventory and restocks supplies, instruments, and equipment.
• Removes out-of-date items and reprocesses as needed.
• Supports general department cleaning and equipment checks.
• Records patient charges.
• Call with a 30-minute response time.
• Mentors the team and supports development of level one technologists.
• Annual education related to specialty accreditation as defined by standards.
