Job summary

WVU Medicine Thomas Hospitals is looking for a Surgical Technologist in South Charleston, West Virginia. The role includes assisting with surgical procedures, maintaining sterilization, and supporting the surgical team. Candidates should have completed a Licensed Practical Nurse, Surgical Technology, or Registered Nurse program, along with six months of scrub experience.

Additional requirements include obtaining Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire. The position is scheduled for 36 hours weekly.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Licensed Practical Nurse, Surgical Technology, or Registered Nurse program.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and six (6) months of previous scrub experience.
• Obtain Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes quality aseptic technique in the OR.
• Assists the RN in maintaining a sterile field.
• Performs sponge, instrument, and needle counts.
• Passes sterile instruments to the surgical team during procedures.
• Assists with positioning patients and equipment.
