Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking a Surgical Technician under the direction of a surgical nurse to perform less complicated surgical technician duties across surgical areas. This position includes verification of specialty equipment and inventory, coordinating with surgeons, buyers, and vendors for complex cases, and contacting surgical supply companies about malfunctioning equipment.

Qualifications

• Completion of accredited Surgical Technologist training/institution or equivalent.
• BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within 6 months.
• Prior Surgical Technician experience.
• Minimum of two years OR experience in outpatient and/or inpatient settings.
• Experience in two of Robotic Surgery, Total Joint Procedures, OB/GYN, Orthopedics, and ENT.
• Knowledge of surgical instrumentation and related duties.

Responsibilities

• Perform less complicated surgical technician duties under a nurse's direction.
• Verify specialty equipment and inventory; contact surgeons for equipment needs.
• Coordinate with buyers and vendors for complex cases; communicate about malfunctioning equipment.
