Under the direction of surgical charge nurse, performs less complicated surgical technician duties utilizing specialized knowledge acquired through formal training. This position is assigned surgical technician support to surgical areas within UC San Diego Health. Duties also include ordering, stocking, and verification of specialty equipment, supplies, and tracking inventory (type, quantity and expiration dates), contacting surgeons concerning equipment and supply needs for complex cases, communicating with related buyers and vendors and other staff concerning their service, contacting surgical supply companies and their vendors about malfunctioning or broken equipment, and providing continuing education in-service to staff. Management and processing of hazardous materials, disposable and non-disposable equipment and instruments per protocol and regulations. Performs other related tasks as needed.
Pay Transparency Act: Annual Full Pay Range: $69,447 - $86,381 (prorated if appointment percentage <100%). Hourly: $33.26 - $41.37.
Hire range reflects budgeted salary or hourly range; final compensation may vary based on experience, licensure, and organizational needs.
