Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking an OR Tech I at Jersey City Medical Center in the Operating Room. The role involves assisting the surgical team under the direction of a Registered Nurse and scrubbing for diverse service lines including robotics and neuro/spine.

Applicants must have a Surgical Technician training program completion, 2–3 years of OR experience, and NBSTSA certification with BLS. Scheduling includes 7:00 am–3:00 pm, full-time with alternating weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of a Surgical Technician training program.
• 2–3 years of experience in OR settings.
• Must scrub across service lines including robotics, vascular, endovascular, neurovascular, general, thoracic, neuro/spine, orthopedics, complex plastics and trauma.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to multitask and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Assist in delivering patient care before, during, and after surgery under RN direction.
• Scrub for surgeries across multiple service lines as required.

Pay Range: $31.41 - $38.42 per hour

Pay Transparency: The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey. The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

A member of the surgical team, acting under the direction of a Registered Nurse, who works with the surgeon and RN in delivering patient care and assuming appropriate responsibility before, during and after surgery.

Qualifications:

Required: High School diploma or equivalent. Completion of a Surgical Technician training program. 2 – 3 years of experience. Must have strong knowledge with skill being able to scrub the following service lines: robotics, vascular, endovascular, neurovascular, general, thoracic, neuro/spine, orthopedics, complex plastic cases and trauma. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbally and written). Must be able to make calls. Must be flexible, able to multitask and be able to work independently.

Certifications and Licenses Required:

Certified Surgical Technician, required. NBSTSA Certification, required. Current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification required with American Heart Association.

Scheduling Requirements:

7:00 am – 3:00 pm. Full Time. Alternating Weekends, holidays and call coverage.
