Job summary

Jersey City Medical Center in Jersey City, NJ is seeking an OR Tech I to join the Operating Room team. The role supports the surgical team under the direction of a Registered Nurse and collaborates with the surgeon and RN to deliver patient care before, during and after surgery.

Required are a high school diploma or equivalent and a Surgical Technician training program, plus 2–3 years of experience. Certifications and scheduling details align with the unit’s needs and patient safety standards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a Surgical Technician training program.
• 2–3 years of experience in a surgical setting.
• Proficient in scrubbing multiple service lines including robotics, vascular, endovascular, neurovascular, general, thoracic, neuro/spine, orthopedics, complex plastic cases and trauma.

Pay Range: $31.41 - $38.42 per hour

Pay Transparency: The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey. The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

A member of the surgical team, acting under the direction of a Registered Nurse, who works with the surgeon and RN in delivering patient care and assuming appropriate responsibility before, during and after surgery.

Qualifications:

Required: High School diploma or equivalent. Completion of a Surgical Technician training program. 2 – 3 years of experience. Must have strong knowledge with skill being able to scrub the following service lines: robotics, vascular, endovascular, neurovascular, general, thoracic, neuro/spine, orthopedics, complex plastic cases and trauma. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbally and written). Must be able to make calls. Must be flexible, able to multitask and be able to work independently.

Certifications and Licenses Required:

Certified Surgical Technician, required. NBSTSA Certification, required. Current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification required with American Heart Association.

Scheduling Requirements:

7:00 am – 3:00 pm. Full Time. Alternating Weekends, holidays and call coverage.
