Job summary

Boston Children’s Hospital is seeking an SPD/OR Liaison to plan and oversee daily clinical and administrative operations in the designated surgical service. You will help develop standards and participate in multidisciplinary programs to improve quality and cost-effectiveness of patient care and sterile processing.

You will verify instrument kits before surgery, forecast needs with OR coordinators, monitor case flow, and conduct KPI audits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s Degree in Sterile Processing preferred.
• Required area of study: Sterile Processing.
• Preferred area of study: Sterile Processing and Surgical Technology.
• Minimum three years in Sterile Processing required.
• Five years in Sterile Processing preferred.
• CRCST or CSPDT certification required.
• SPD Leadership, Instrument Tech and Endoscopy certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Verify instrument kits are ready before surgery start times.
• Attend daily meetings to forecast instrument needs up to five days ahead.
• Monitor case flow and communicate instrument needs to SPD.
• Conduct daily KPI audits and post-case reviews.
• Analyze KPI data to identify trends and issues.
• Coordinate communication for priority instruments and turnarounds.
• Respond to surgical team calls regarding instrumentation.
• Clean and process equipment per manufacturer instructions and safety protocols.
• Ensure instruments are available for next-day, on-call or weekend surgeries.
• Assist with documentation, kit updates, and instrument counts.
