Job summary

Henry Ford Health is seeking an RN Operating Room First Assistant for the Novi campus. This full-time, days role provides direct assistance to surgeons before, during, and after procedures, focusing on optimal exposure, hemostasis, and safe patient care. A nursing diploma or equivalent licensure is required, with ACLS/BLS as specified by policy.

Qualifications

• Diploma from an accredited nursing program or required professional licensure at time of hire.
• Registered Nurse credentialed by the Michigan Board of Nursing before hire date.
• ACLS and BLS certifications required within defined timeframes.

Responsibilities

• Position patient to maximize exposure for the surgical procedure while ensuring comfort and safety.
• Assist with visualization of the operative site using appropriate techniques, tissue manipulation, retraction, suction, and irrigation.
• Use techniques to achieve temporary and permanent hemostasis.
• Assist with body plane closure, wound dressings, and securing drainage systems.
