Job summary

HCA Healthcare is seeking an Operating Room Registered Nurse to support Methodist Healthcare System hospitals across the San Antonio area. You will cover staffing needs across facilities with four-week advance scheduling and a culture of collaboration for patient safety and workflow efficiency.

Responsibilities include preop evaluation, patient education, IV therapy, site verification, time-out and debriefing, and active participation in an interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support within 30 days of employment start date.
• Current RN license in Texas.
• RN Diploma, ASN, or BSN degree.
• 75% attendance to facility where assigned.
• 2 years experience in a procedural area.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education around the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Prepare patient including IV therapy and preoperative medications.
• Participate in surgical site verification and universal protocols.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care with evidence-based practices.
• Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team.
• Apply nursing process, critical thinking, and leadership to deliver safe care.
• Assess patient condition and document changes and care.
• Educate patients and families about medical condition and follow-up.
