Job summary

Methodist Healthcare System is seeking a Registered Nurse for Short Stay Pre/Post opening. The role involves evaluating patients pre- and post-surgery, educating families, and ensuring patient safety through perioperative care within a collaborative surgical team.

Requires graduation from an accredited RN program and active Texas RN license (or Multi-State Compact with 60-day Texas licensure). BLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited RN program (diploma, associate, or bachelor's).
• Minimum 6 months of clinical RN experience.
• Current Texas RN license or Multi-State Compact; must obtain Texas licensure within 60 days of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of start date.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgical procedures and during perioperative care.
• Educate patients and families about procedures and perioperative processes.
• Prepare patients, including IV therapy, preoperative meds, and site verification.
• Participate in universal protocols and surgical site verifications.
• Recognize emergencies and deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to optimize patient safety and workflow.
