Job summary

Hartford HealthCare is offering an OR Transition to Practice Program at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport for new graduate and experienced nurses.

The 12-month program blends classroom, simulation, and clinical rotations to build perioperative competencies, with mentors from the Nursing Professional Development team and an eventual entry into the Graduate Nurse Residency. The schedule spans Monday–Friday mornings, with evening/night/weekend exposure in final weeks, aiming to prepare

Qualifications

• Current Connecticut nursing license required prior to start date.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire.
• Exposure to perioperative nursing practice environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Scrub nurse role: prepare instruments, pass instruments, maintain sterile field, and assist surgeon.
• Circulating nurse role: manage OR environment, maintain documentation, coordinate with departments, and anticipate needs.
