Job summary

St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Connecticut is offering an OR Transition to Practice program for new graduate and experienced nurses transitioning to perioperative care.

The 12-month program blends clinical orientation with perioperative theory and hands-on practice, starting next February and including mentorship by unit educators and preceptors. Qualifications

• Current Connecticut nursing license required prior to start date.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire.
• Exposure to perioperative nursing practice environment preferred (Summer Student Nurse Fellow, Capstone Rotation, employment in perioperative services in a non-licensed capacity).

Responsibilities

• Operate within the perioperative team to support patient safety before, during, and after surgery.
• Assist scrub and circulating nurses by managing instruments, supplies and documentation.
• Collaborate across specialties to ensure 24/7 operating room coverage and patient care continuity.
