Job summary

LewisGale Hospital Montgomery in Blacksburg, VA is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Operating Room. You will evaluate patients pre-op, educate families about procedures, and ensure safe, evidence-based perioperative care in a collaborative team.

The role emphasizes patient safety, timely preparation, and active participation in surgical workflows with on-call duties during select non-business hours.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
• RN – Registered Nurse
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree required
• 2 years of experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery
• Provide education to patients and families about procedures
• Prepare patients including IV therapy and preoperative medications
• Participate in surgical site verification and time-out procedures
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies
• Deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including surgeons and staff
• Document changes and care provided thoroughly
• Educate patients on medical condition, treatment, and follow-up
