Job summary

UP Health System – Marquette is seeking an Assistant Manager (RN) for the OR to lead afternoon staff and coordinate changes with the anesthesia team and surgeons, ensuring smooth scheduling and safe, high-quality care.

Rounding with patients and families, supporting throughput improvements, and adjusting staffing for add-ons or cancellations are core. Michigan RN license and perioperative leadership experience are required; CNOR is preferred, with opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• State of Michigan RN license.
• Associate degree from an accredited nursing school (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
• Basic Life Support (Health Care Provider).
• 2 years Perioperative Experience (Preferred).
• 3 years Leadership Experience (Preferred).
• CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room) (Preferred).

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate afternoon OR staff.
• Coordinate changes to the OR schedule with the anesthesia team and surgeons.
• Communicate with the PAR and PACU nursing staff to facilitate improved throughput of patients.
• Complete patient and family rounding and service recovery as needed.
• Make adjustments to staffing as needed to account for add‑on or cancelled cases.
• Provide patient care as needed to facilitate surgical needs of patients.
