Job summary

TriStar Centennial Medical Center in Murfreesboro, TN is seeking an Operating Room Nurse for Womens and Childrens services. You will evaluate patients before surgery, educate families about procedures, and ensure patient preparation and site verification are thorough and safe.

You will join an interdisciplinary team, applying evidence-based practices and leading nursing care from admission to post-op recovery.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• RN license (Registered Nurse).
• Registered Nurse Diploma holder required.
• OR Circulating experience required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols, according to hospital policy.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while managing evidence-based practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team including provider(s), surgeons, surgical technologists and more.
• Consistently apply nursing process, critical thinking, scientific judgment, and leadership to deliver safe nursing care to patients.
• Assess patient condition, monitor during shift, and document changes thoroughly.
• Educate patients and families about medical condition, treatment and follow-up measures.
