Job summary

LewisGale Hospital Montgomery in Virginia is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Operating Room. You will evaluate patients before surgery, provide perioperative education, and prepare patients for procedures including IV therapy and medication administration.

You will work within a collaborative, interdisciplinary team to ensure safety and high-quality care. The role emphasizes adherence to surgical protocols, patient safety, and continuous improvement, with on-call requirements

Qualifications

• BCLS must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
• RN – Registered Nurse.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
• 2 years experience required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education around the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Prepare patients, including IV therapy, preoperative meds, and surgical site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification per hospital policy.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while applying evidence-based practices.
• Collaborate with a dynamic interdisciplinary team.
• Apply nursing process, critical thinking, and leadership to deliver safe care.
• Monitor patient condition and document changes throughout shift.
• Educate patients and families about condition, treatment, and follow-up.
