Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in South San Francisco, CA is seeking a Senior Surgical Technician to support the operating room team before, during, and after procedures. You will manage instruments, ensure sterility, and assist in patient positioning and retrieval of supplies.

The role requires at least two years of acute OR experience, a high school diploma or GED, BLS, and willingness to train other staff. Prior certification as Surgical Technologist is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of current acute Operating Room experience.
• High School Diploma or GED; Surgical Technologist certification preferred.
• BLS certification required; willingness to train RNs and others in scrub role.
• Experience with minimally invasive, ENT, orthopedics, vascular, and other surgeries.

Responsibilities

• Direct, check, review and coordinate work of Surgical Technicians.
• Prepare and position patient; arrange instruments; maintain sterility.
• Assist surgeon and team during procedures; handle instruments and supplies.
• Ensure room turnover, cleanliness, and adherence to safety goals.
• Count sponges and needles; assist with dressings post-operation.
• Suggest equipment purchases and participate in equipment setup.
