Job summary

Alhambra Hospital Medical Center is seeking an OR Instrument Technician to support the perioperative services department by testing sterilizers, performing decontamination, preparation, sterilization and distribution of surgical instruments and equipment. The role emphasizes infection control and strict safety practices.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) provider card is required, along with certification (NICHSPDP or ISCHIM).

Qualifications

• Knowledge of equipment function to determine operational adequacy.
• Knowledge of sanitary, infection control, and safety standards to perform assignments safely.
• Using AAMI resources to assemble and wrap instruments, supplies and equipment.
• Knowledge of decontamination and sterilization processes, including endoscopes reprocessing.
• Ability to lift and move trays of instruments and patient care equipment up to 25 lbs.
• Good telephone manners and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to perform bending, lifting and washing in decontamination processes.
• Skill in cleaning specialized equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in testing sterilizers and preparing sterilized instruments for distribution.
• Support decontamination, disinfection and sterilization processes across perioperative services.
