Job summary

Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist in Winston-Salem, NC seeks a surgical technologist or experienced OR instrument tech to coordinate daily OR and SPD activities for efficient case flow.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED with substantial Sterile Processing/OR scrubbing experience; or an associate degree with related hospital experience; CST credential preferred. Certification in sterile processing within 12 months is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus 4+ years hospital Sterile Processing/OR scrub tech experience.
• Associate's degree with 2 years hospital Sterile Processing/OR scrub tech experience; OR experience preferred.
• Certified Scrub Technician (Surgical Technology) credential preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage flow of materials between OR and Sterile Processing, orders, maintenance and prep.
• Ensure accurate case carts with OR coordinators and schedule.
• Monitor instrument needs and flag emergencies or delays.
• Coordinate instrument turnarounds and address instrument issues impacting start times.
• Act as liaison between OR and SPD and train staff on instrumentation standards.
• Develop and implement performance standards with team input.
• Collaborate to train staff on instrumentation and procedures.
• Demonstrate knowledge of instrumentation use and handling.
• Follow hospital policies including JCAHO, AORN and related guidelines.
• Perform duties of Instrument Technician and assist as needed.
