Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with four years of hospital Sterile Processing or OR scrub tech experience.
• Associate's degree with two years hospital Sterile Processing/ scrub tech experience or graduation from a School of Surgical Technology preferred and CST credential.
• Certification from an accredited agency in sterile processing required or to be obtained within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Manages flow between OR and Sterile Processing; orders, presents, maintains, and prepares surgical instrumentation.
• Reviews surgery schedule and ensures accurate case carts with OR coordinators.
• Assesses case flow, monitors instrument needs, and alerts SPD of additional needs.
• Plans instrument turnarounds and troubleshoots instrument issues to avoid delays.
• Acts as liaison between OR and SPD; coordinates with OR staff and SPD management.
• Develops training plans for instrumentation with OR team and SPD leadership.
• Demonstrates proper use of instrumentation and adheres to policies and procedures.
• Verifies instrumentation sterilization for next-day, call, or weekend cases.
