Job summary

DMC Detroit Receiving Hospital is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to coordinate surgical instrument and supply flow between the OR and Central Sterile Processing (CSP). The role supports efficient case flow, participates in process improvements, and ensures adherence to hospital and industry policies.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent; associates degree preferred.
• Certified Sterile Processing Technician through CBSPD or IAHCSMM is preferred/required.
• Ability to read, write and comprehend English.

Responsibilities

• Assist OR staff by preparing the OR suite and verifying instrument trays before case start times.
• Transport sterile instruments and supplies to the operating room and perform package integrity checks.
• Monitor case flow and notify CSP staff of instrument needs or issues.
• Assist with removal of soiled carts and non-sterile instrumentation for CSP processing.
• Plan instrument turnarounds with CSP staff and communicate essential instrumentation details to the surgical team.
