Job summary

Hopedale Medical Complex is seeking a Registered Nurse — OR Circulator to join our caring team in Hopedale, IL. The role collaborates with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical staff to deliver safe, high‑quality perioperative care in a busy operating room.

You will advocate for patients before, during, and after surgery, document care, and help maintain a sterile, efficient OR environment. Eligible candidates hold a nursing degree, IL RN license, BLS and ACLS, and excel in fast‑paced

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current, unrestricted Illinois RN license.
• Current BLS certification.
• Current ACLS certification.
• Strong critical-thinking, organizational, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, surgical technicians, anesthesia providers, and ancillary staff.
• Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced surgical environment.
• Knowledge of physiology, pathology, geriatrics, and critical care.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the patient’s advocate before, during, and after surgery.
• Assess and monitor patients before, during, and after surgical procedures.
• Obtain and document vital signs and pertinent patient information.
• Prepare the operating room, equipment, instruments, supplies, and medications needed for surgical procedures.
• Verify patient identity, procedure, surgical site, consent, and other required documentation.
• Maintain a safe and sterile environment in collaboration with the surgical team.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and provide appropriate assistance throughout procedures.
• Monitor the patient’s condition and communicate changes or concerns promptly.
• Document surgical procedures, medications, specimens, counts, and other required information accurately and timely.
• Perform and document surgical counts in accordance with established procedures.
• Assist with patient positioning while maintaining patient safety, privacy, and dignity.
• Coordinate patient care and communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technicians, and other members of the healthcare team.
• Assist with transporting patients to the recovery area following surgery.
• Ensure appropriate postoperative communication and transfer of care.
• Assist with cleaning and preparing the operating room between procedures.
• Maintain and promote compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, and regulatory standards.
• Participate in quality improvement activities, continuing education, and staff development.
• Participate in the department’s rotating call schedule.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
