Job summary

Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas, part of HCA Healthcare, invites qualified Registered Nurses to join the Surgery team. The role emphasizes circulating and scrubbing support, patient education, and perioperative care within a collaborative OR environment.

Responsibilities include preop assessment, site verification, and patient/family education, with on-call and rotating shifts as needed. ACLS validated RNs with appropriate licensure are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Prior surgery experience preferred.
• Experience in circulating and scrubbing preferred.
• If new to the OR, 2 years of progressive acute care nursing experience recommended.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support is required.
• RN status (RN) and valid licensure.
• Registered Nurse degree or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Prepare patients including intravenous therapy, preoperative meds and site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification, briefing, time out and debriefing per hospital policy.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies and deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.
• Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team in the OR.
• Apply nursing process, critical thinking, and leadership to deliver safe care.
• Monitor patient condition and document changes and care provided.
• Educate patients and families about medical condition, treatment and follow-up.
