Job summary

Doctors United Surgery Center in Texas is seeking an experienced OR nurse manager to supervise the OR staff, coordinate daily case flow, scheduling and equipment, and ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards for safe patient care.

You will prepare monthly call schedules, lead inservices, manage inventory with Radiology and Sterile Processing, and communicate with physicians and vendors to resolve issues and maintain smooth operations.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited nursing program.
• Three (3) years experience in surgery.
• Current Texas RN License.
• BLS, ACLS and PALS required.
• CNOR preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervises the OR staff to ensure smooth flow of cases.
• Assists in coordination of daily case scheduling in the OR with other staff to ensure schedule flows smoothly.
• Prepare, coordinate and perform monthly OR staff meetings and in-services.
• Communicate effectively with physicians to resolve issues and improve efficiency.
• Order instruments and equipment for cases.
• Coordinate inventory quarterly in all areas of the OR.
• Prepare schedules in the afternoon for next day.
• Supervise evening shift and radiology coordination.
• Communicate with vendors for supplies and instrument needs.
• Coordinate with Materials and Sterile Processing for supplies.
• Assist with annual evaluations and hiring/orientation of OR staff.
• Help revise policies related to OR functions and maintain Joint Commission readiness.
• Enter data into Kronos timekeeping; MIDAS data entry; EDGE data collections.
