Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking an OR Assistant at Baystate Wing Hospital in Palmer, MA. This part-time role supports the perioperative services team under RN supervision, focusing on patient care and a safe surgical environment.

You will assist with turnover, transport patients, prep rooms, and maintain equipment per infection control standards. Collaborative team duties include stocking supplies and aiding with pre-operative preparation.

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required.
• Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced setting.
• Attention to detail and good hand-eye coordination are essential.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Completion of orientation program is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with operating room turnover and room setup to promote efficient patient flow and on-time surgical starts.
• Prepare operating rooms for procedures by ensuring equipment and supplies are clean and ready.
• Clean, inspect, and maintain equipment per infection prevention and safety standards.
• Stock supplies and replenish blanket warmers to maintain inventory levels.
• Assist with pre-operative patient preparation and patient transport.
• Support surgical team with positioning and transfers as needed.
• Assist Nurses with transporting patients to PACU and other units.
• Contribute to orientation and ongoing education activities.
