Job summary

Arnot Health is seeking a Surgical Aide to support the OR team at Arnot Ogden Medical Center. You will assist with patient transport, stocking, sanitation of OR rooms, and daily operations to ensure smooth surgical day/evening/night flows. Reports to the Director of Perioperative Services.

Minimum requirements include a high school education; BLS within 30 days of hire; hospital experience preferred. Schedule includes Monday through Sunday evenings and nights; 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications: High school education or equivalent.
• Preferred qualifications: Experience in a hospital setting.
• Licensure/certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 30 days of hire.
• Physical requirements: Lifting at waist level with assistance for patient handling accounts for 15% of the job.

Responsibilities

• Isolates and removes trash and linen for proper disposal after surgical procedures.
• Transports patients from units to OR and SDS.
• Coordinates cart exchanges and linen supplies; understands inventory control and case cart preparation.
• Restocks blanket warmers; transports and handles specimens and maintains specimen container supply.
• Transports blood and blood products to and from lab as needed for patient needs or stock requirements.
• Performs temperature checks on surgical blood, drug and food refrigerators and reports discrepancies.
