Job summary

Indiana Regional Medical Center, Inc. seeks a patient transport assistant to support the surgical and post-operative areas.

Responsibilities include moving patients, changing linens, and assisting in transfers from carts to beds in the OR, acting as limb holder when needed, and supporting housekeeping during turnover. The role requires basic patient care interaction, teamwork with an interdisciplinary staff, and adherence to safety and infection-control practices.

Qualifications

• Minimum Education: High School graduate or equivalent.
• Minimum Experience: 1 year med-surg experience preferred. Successful completion of orientation.
• Licensure/Certification: CNA program preferred; BLS certification required or obtained within first month of hire.

Job description

Transport patients to and from surgical area, change bed linen on in-patient beds prior to placing post op patient back in bed. Assist in transferring patients from carts to beds in OR, act as limb holder for prep when needed and assist housekeeping in cleaning and room turnover. Order storeroom and office supplies for OR, Anesthesia and PACU and stock all assigned areas. Put away linen, equipment and supplies. Transport specimens to lab. Document temperature and humidity for all assigned areas. Must be able to identify patient’s age-specific needs.

Job Specification

• Minimum Education Required: High School graduate or equivalent
• Minimum Experience Required: 1 year med-surg experience preferred. Successful completion of orientation
• Licensure/Certification Required: successful completion of an approved certified nursing assistant program preferred.
  • Must be BLS certified or obtain within the first month of hire.
  • Skills required (if applicable): Ability to interact effectively with patients, families and staff. Excellent interpersonal skills, must possess the ability to work collaboratively as a member of a interdisciplinary team. The ability to provide direct patient care as needed.
