Job summary

IRMC is seeking a dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant to support the surgical services team. You will transport patients, assist with linen changes, and help move patients between carts and beds in the OR, acting as a limb holder when needed.

You will also stock supplies for OR, Anesthesia and PACU, document environmental conditions, and collaborate with nurses and house staff to ensure safe, age-appropriate patient care across med-surg units. Evening or night shifts may vary.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 1 year med-surg experience preferred; orientation completed.
• Must complete or have BLS certification within first month.

Responsibilities

• Change bed linen on in-patient beds before postop.
• Assist in transferring patients from carts to beds in OR.

Job description

Assist in transferring patients from carts to beds in OR, act as limb holder for prep when needed and assist housekeeping in cleaning and room turnover. Order storeroom and office supplies for OR, Anesthesia and PACU and stock all assigned areas. Put away linen, equipment and supplies. Transport specimens to lab. Document temperature and humidity for all assigned areas. Must be able to identify patient’s age-specific needs.

Job Specification

• Minimum Education Required: High School graduate or equivalent
• Minimum Experience Required: 1 year med-surg experience preferred. Successful completion of orientation
• Licensure/Certification Required: successful completion of an approved certified nursing assistant program preferred.
  • Must be BLS certified or obtain within the first month of hire.
  • Skills required (if applicable): Ability to interact effectively with patients, families and staff. Excellent interpersonal skills, must possess the ability to work collaboratively as a member of a interdisciplinary team. The ability to provide direct patient care as needed.
