Job summary

CABVI is seeking a Managing Optometrist to oversee operations at three vision care locations, including a primary and two satellites. The role balances patient care with business, inventory, billing and scheduling across clinics.

The position requires a NY-licensed Doctor of Optometry, at least five years of management experience, and ability to supervise staff, conduct exams, and develop telemedicine protocols. Strong collaboration with departments is essential.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Doctor of Optometry degree with a current active license issued by the NY State Board of Optometry.
• Minimum of 5 years’ previous management experience required.
• Must be able to write effective clinical notes, reports and correspondence.
• Must be comfortable using laptop computer and iPad.
• Must have skills to operate optometric equipment including retinal camera, phoropter, ophthalmoscope, keratometer, lensometer, retinoscope, visual field machine, Snellen charts and more.

Responsibilities

• Oversee three vision care locations, balance business management with patient care, inventory and scheduling.
• Provide vision examinations and prescribe lenses and frames.
• Develop protocols for tele-medicine and ensure proper billing.
• Supervise optometrists and optical staff and guide complex eye cases.
• Document exam findings and communicate with primary care providers and referrals.
• Manage optical dispensary, inventory, pricing, and promotions with lab contracts.
