Job summary

Midwestern University’s Chicago College of Optometry invites an Assistant Professor/Clinic Care Lead (IL). The role leads the contact lens and dry eye clinics, ensuring top patient care, compliance, and quality assurance.

The position supervises faculty and staff, prioritizes clinic operations, and drives new services and community outreach to increase patient volume. Requires OD degree, residency, and IL license, with cornea/CL expertise.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Optometry degree from an AOA-accredited institution.
• ACOE-accredited residency completed.
• Eligible for Illinois optometric license.
• Expertise in cornea and contact lenses.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical and operational leadership for the contact lens and dry eye clinics, including inventory management and equipment servicing.
• Review privileging applications and make recommendations to the Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs.
• Identify capital equipment needs and participate in budget planning.
• Oversee patient care quality and ensure compliance with national guidelines and Medicare documentation.
• Supervise faculty and staff, schedule workloads, and support the annual performance review process.
• Lead faculty/staff development and orientation for the specialty area.
• Assist with department rotation objectives and remediation when needed.
