Job summary

Kaiser Permanente Bakersfield, CA is seeking a detail‑oriented Optometry Assistant to support eye exams under direct supervision. You will assist the Optometrist, perform preliminary testing, obtain and record patient histories, measure visual acuity, and handle lensometry and keratometry tasks.

Qualifications

• Obtains and records patient history information in medical chart.
• Maintains medical and eye chart files and reviews charts as needed.
• Performs preliminary testing and assists optometrist during exams.

Responsibilities

• Measure spectacles using manual and auto lensometers; measure pupillary distance.
• Measure visual acuity; conduct pediatric tests (HOTV, Preschool Vision Test).
• Perform auto-refraction/keratometry; dial refractive data into phoropter.
• Instill eye drops for dilation and tonometry; perform non-contact tonometry.
• Maintain contact lens inventory and process orders; schedule appointments.
