Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in Redwood City, CA is seeking a Vision Services Assistant II to support Ophthalmology/Ophthalmic operations. You will perform objective ophthalmic testing, assist providers, schedule procedures, and manage patient records with EMR, under supervision.

Strong clinical skills, good communication, and ability to work in a fast-paced eye care setting are essential. Prior ophthalmic testing experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of recent experience performing objective ophthalmic testing (visual acuity, tonometry, visual fields, lensometry, etc.).
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant or Technician certification required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or required by site.
  • Proficient in ophthalmic procedures, medical terminology, and EMR data entry.

Responsibilities

  • Measure and record intraocular pressure and other objective ophthalmic tests.
  • Assist with order processing, scheduling for visits and procedures.
  • Prepare and document medical information for providers.
  • Maintain records in the EMR and ensure accurate data entry.
  • Set up for minor ocular procedures and assist as needed.
  • Demonstrate strong communication with patients and team.
