Job summary

Kaiser Permanente is seeking an Optometrist to perform routine and specialized eye care under supervision within California law and TPMG policies. The role involves independent clinical judgment, history taking, testing, and clear documentation to manage patients' ocular health.

Responsibilities include interpreting data, making diagnoses, planning care, and coordinating with optical and ophthalmology teams, with ongoing licensing and training requirements.

Qualifications

• OD degree from an accredited School of Optometry.
• Optometrist license (California) at hire.
• Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agents (TPA) required for external employees hired after November 2009 (TPA not required for internal applicants).
• Must have Natl Provider Identifier (NPI) or obtain one prior to start date.

Responsibilities

• Take patient history including chief complaints, symptoms, ocular and medical history.
• Perform and document testing using ophthalmic equipment; document findings.
• Interpret data and develop impressions and plan; document and refer as needed.
• Collaborate with optical and ophthalmology teams; participate in staff meetings and ensure quality care.
• Maintain licensing and mandatory training; complete required forms and communications.
