Responsibilities

We offer a broad range of employment opportunities and the chance to make a meaningful impact on the health of people in the region.**Position Summary:**To provide clinical optometric care in a professional manner to the YK Delta populace.**Position Responsibilities:*** Provides direct ambulatory and/or inpatient general or specialty (contact lenses, low vision, ocular disease or other) optometric care of average professional difficulty in order to enhance the well-being of the patient.* Maintains established departmental Policies and Procedures, objectives, quality improvement program, safety, environment and infection control standards.* Personal contacts are with patients and their families in a clinical setting for the purpose of delivering health care. Work contact is primarily to obtain and provide information and render a medical service in a responsible, respectful, and caring manner to promote the most effective relationship possible.* Responsible for recording all patient care examinations and procedures in the appropriate health records in compliance with professional community standards and other available guidelines.* Adhere to Privacy Act.* Exhibits a professional, gracious, warm and caring manner with patients* Accepts additional (emergent or urgent) patients when necessary.* Accepts or returns phone calls and pages (if applicable) in a timely manner.* Takes initiative to resolve patient and/or personnel problems at point of service or through appropriate lines of authority in a constructive manner.* Provides and documents good quality patient care.* When on call, is available in a timely manner and responds with a courteous and professional attitude.* Other duties as assigned.**Position Qualifications:*** **Minimum Education:** Graduate and possess a Diploma, from an accredited school of Optometry* **License, Certification, Registration:** Possess a professional license from a State Board. Must have an Alaska Optometry license and be certified to use both diagnostic and therapeutic agents. Government Hire- Must have an Optometric license from any state or able to receive a state license within the allotted probationary period. Successfully passed the Treatment and Management of Ocular Disease (TMOD) certification or the National Board of Examiners in Optometry equivalent.* **Equipment/Tools:** Must have the computer skills needed to access computerized medical records.* **Specialized Knowledge and Skills:** General Optometry.* **Supervisory Responsibilities:** Ability to supervise medical students, residents, and physician extenders, and community Health Aide clinical practice.
