Job summary

Acuity Eye Group is seeking an Optometrist to perform comprehensive eye exams, diagnose eye conditions and manage patient care at our Southern California locations.

The role requires an O.D. degree and a California license, with strong communication skills and experience using ophthalmoscopes and tonometers. You will help patients with eyewear, contact lenses, and eye health education while maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree and active California license in good standing.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• In-depth understanding of eye conditions and vision defects.
• Hands-on experience with eye examination tools, such as ophthalmoscope and tonometer.
• Ability to explain medical terms simply and clearly.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive eye and vision tests.
• Diagnose defects of the eye, such as myopia, astigmatism, and glaucoma.
• Provide personalized temporary and permanent solutions to sight issues based on each patient’s case and medical history.
• Prescribe medications, eyeglasses and contact lenses.
• Advise patients on proper eye care technique.
• Promote eye and general health by evaluating and counseling patients.
• Keep updated and accurate medical records for all patients.
• Book next appointments when re-examination is required.
• Train patients on how to use and maintain their contact lenses.
• Refer eye doctors and ophthalmologists when patients need surgeries or in cases of severe eye injuries.
• Maintain patient, physician, and employee privacy and confidentiality per policy.
• Maintain an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor per company policies.
• Maintain strict compliance with state, federal and other regulations (OSHA, HIPAA, ADA, etc.).
• Stay current with changes in the healthcare environment and act in the best interest of the company.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
