Qualifications

• Doctorate of Optometry from a credentialed institution.
• Must have passed all optometric state boards.

Responsibilities

• Establish long term patient relationships through proper patient care and education.
• Perform vision tests and analyze results.
• Diagnose sight problems and eye diseases; prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and medications.
• Recommend or provide treatments such as vision therapy or low-vision rehabilitation.
• Provide pre- and postoperative care to patients undergoing eye surgery.
• Promote eye health by counseling patients on lens care and routine exams.
• Clearly communicate recommendations to opticians and other staff.
