Job summary

Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center is hiring an Optometrist to provide general and specialized eye care within the full scope of optometric practice in a collaborative setting with ophthalmologists and residents.

The role includes comprehensive eye exams, designing treatment plans, emergency care, and contributing to quality improvement while documenting care in the electronic medical record. A Massachusetts license is required and experience with EMR systems is preferred.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in Optometry required.
• Current Optometrist license in MA.
• 0-1 years related work experience required.
• Completion of an accredited Optometry training program.
• Experience with computer systems and EMR/documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provides optometric evaluations with referral to an Ophthalmologist as necessary.
• Performs comprehensive eye exams, reviewing history, tests, and treatments.
• Designs and implements individual treatment programs and selects corrective/therapeutic devices.
• Provides emergency and triage ophthalmic care and referrals as needed.
• Records evaluations, diagnoses and treatment in the patient medical record.
• Participates in unit quality improvement and maintains safe exam environments.
• Provides patient education and clinical precepting for staff and students.
• Provides leadership to support hospital policies and influence care delivery improvements.
