Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking an Optometrist to provide general and specialized eye care within the full scope of Optometric practice. Collaborate with Ophthalmologists, Ophthalmic Residents and other healthcare providers to co-manage patient care that affects eye health and vision.

The role includes performing comprehensive eye exams, emergency care, unit quality improvement, patient education, and leadership to support policies and care delivery across the hospital.

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Optometry is required.
  • Massachusetts Optometrist license required.
  • 0–1 years related work experience required.
  • Completion of accredited Optometry training program.
  • Current licensure to practice in Massachusetts with relevant pharmaceutical authority.

Responsibilities

  • Provides optometric evaluations with referral to an Ophthalmologist as necessary.
  • Provides emergency and triage ophthalmic care to patients and records care in the medical record.
  • Participates in unit quality improvement and maintains a safe examination environment.
  • Provides patient support, education, and clinical precepting for staff, students, and residents.
  • Provides leadership to support hospital policies and advance Optometric practice.
