The group provides comprehensive general and medical eye care, including diagnosis and management of a wide range of ocular conditions. Role Description

This part-time, on-site Optometrist role is based in Hadley, MA and involves providing thorough eye examinations, including refractions, contact lens fittings, and evaluation of ocular health for patients of all ages. The Optometrist will diagnose and manage common eye conditions, provide patient education on preventive care and treatment options, and collaborate with optical staff to ensure accurate prescriptions and appropriate eyewear solutions. Daily responsibilities include documenting clinical findings in an electronic health record, maintaining high standards of clinical quality and infection control, and delivering a positive patient experience in a busy practice environment. The Optometrist will work as part of a team within the Visionworks setting while maintaining professional independence in clinical decision-making.

Qualifications
  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution and current, unrestricted license to practice optometry in Massachusetts (or eligibility to obtain).
  • Clinical competence in comprehensive eye exams, refraction, contact lens fitting, and diagnosis and management of common ocular conditions.
  • Strong patient communication skills, including the ability to explain diagnoses, treatment plans, and eyewear options in clear, accessible language.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical and retail environment, collaborating with support staff and optical teams.
  • Commitment to evidence-based care, accurate documentation in electronic health records, and compliance with applicable regulations and standards of care.
  • Experience with pediatric and family eye care, and comfort seeing a diverse patient population across age groups and backgrounds.
  • Professionalism, reliability, and a patient-centered approach; weekend or evening availability as required by the practice schedule is beneficial.
