Job summary

Key-whitman Eye Center in McKinney, TX seeks a Doctor of Optometry to lead and coordinate eye care services. The Center Director will strengthen ties with area optometrists and ophthalmologists, ensuring timely, high-quality medical and surgical eye care for patients and referring providers.

The ideal candidate has a Doctorate in Optometry with NBEO certification and Texas licensure, strong clinical skills, and a track record of collaborative leadership in a referral-based practice.

Qualifications

• Doctorate in Optometry; prefers at least 2 years of experience directly related to duties
• Certification/Licensure: NBEO certification and Texas licensure
• Completed degree from an accredited institution
• Preference for refractive fellowship training
• Meets state and federal requirements for prescribing therapeutic medications
• Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and decision-making skills
• Ability to build trust with patients and providers
• Ability to lead initiatives improving referral coordination and patient access
• Ability to collaborate with Ophthalmologists and multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to develop professional relationships with community physicians

Responsibilities

• Conduct eye exams using optometric equipment and interpret results
• Diagnose and treat ocular disease and disorders
• Prescribe medications for eye diseases and manage test results
• Provide pre- and post-operative care for eye procedures
• Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other vision aids
• Develop relationships with referring physicians and eye care providers to support patient care
• Represent the practice positively in the medical community
• Serve as Center Director to strengthen relationships with optometrists and providers
• Communicate with optometrists and providers to coordinate referrals and care
• Improve internal clinic workflows, scheduling, and referral processes
• Collaborate with physicians and staff to ensure coordinated patient care
• Engage in outreach to support community eye care providers and patient needs
