Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in California seeks an optometrist to conduct routine and advanced eye care within state regulations and group policies. You will document patient histories, perform examinations, and develop treatment plans with referrals as needed.

The role requires an OD from an accredited program, California licensure, and TPAs for certain external positions. You will work with a diverse team to ensure high-quality ocular health services for patients.

Qualifications

• OD degree from an accredited School of Optometry.
• Optometrist License (California) required at hire.
• Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agents (TPA) required for external employees hired after November 2009.
• Graduate of accredited school of Optometry; Natl Provider Identifier (NPI) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conducts and documents patient history including chief complaint, symptoms, and ocular health data.
• Performs required and additional testing with documentation of findings and proper use of ophthalmic equipment.
• Interprets exam data, makes clinical diagnoses, and documents impressions and action plans.
• Collaborates with optical staff and ophthalmology to optimize care and timely service for patients.
• Maintains licensing requirements and communications, including referrals and school/DMV/FAA forms as needed.
